People from all walks of life look for signs. Is this the right guy for me? Should I take the job? With infertility, we tend to look for signs a lot. If a cycle starts on or near so-and-so’s birthday, it’s meant to be. If a estimated delivery date is around an anniversary, it’s meant to be. During our infertility journey, most of these signs we’re let downs, and they left a lot of possibilities unseen. Despite all of that, we still have hope, and we still see signs.
Last November, we shared this website and our desire to adopt with the world during National Adoption Awareness Month. We didn’t choose to announce within November, because it was National Adoption Awareness Month. It just happened, but it kind of gave us peace. A sign?
Now our home study is practically done. We attended our last two classes and final meeting with our social worker last week. Now, we just have to wait for background checks and our final draft of our home study. It’s more waiting than anything. And it just so happens to be National Infertility Awareness Week. It feels like we’ve come full circle. We’ve experienced over 3 years of infertility, and while it was gut wrenching at times, we wouldn’t change a single thing. It led us to now, and we have so much faith in the future.
What’s next? We will be compiling pictures and letters for expectant families to see. It will be similar to this website but in physical form. We will also be having another website on Parent Profiles. It’s kind of like Match.com but for adoption. It’s a little overwhelming to try to capture ourselves in just a couple pages. Our fun spirits? Our diligence? Our love? Of course, we will do our best. We have faith that the right family will see our family and think, “That’s them!” We’ll share everything on this website and/or our Facebook page once we are finished as well.
We are also gearing up for our yard sale in May. Organizing and pricing everything has been consuming us for the last week, but we are both so grateful for everyone who donated items. We can’t wait to sell items and share our story with more in our community. Keep dry weather and pleasant temperatures in your thoughts for May 16! 🙂
As always, we love to hear from you. Many of our posts are inspired by the great questions you ask.
The best advice I got while writing our letter was to be true to ourselves because there will be something about you that the birth mother will fall in love with that will make you the perfect match. I know that really helped us in writing out letter, but I too struggled so much with it. Wishing you the best. 🙂
