Hope y’all are having a good week! We have a short update today. Last week we showed our picture pages of our adoption profile. We finalized our birth parent letter and tacked that onto the other pages. You can view it by clicking on the following link: Our Adoption Profile. We talk about us and our family and refer to open adoption. We’ll be talking more about open adoption as our journey progresses, but you can see what we’ve said about open adoption so far here. We don’t know how our family will come together, but we are hopeful that we will have some level of openness with our child’s birth family.
So, what’s a profile for? Our profile will be at the agency in a book with other hopeful adoptive parents. Expectant parents who have already decided to place their child can look through the book to help them narrow down a forever family for their child. They will be able to meet us if they choose to do so. Our profile will also to be sent to a nearby woman’s health center. The pdf version allows us to send it to friends and family as well as be able to quickly send it out when a situation comes up. If you would like a digital version to share, email us at recipe4family@gmail.com. In the next few weeks, we’ll be working on an online version on the website ParentProfiles.com. We’ve referred to it as Match.com for adoption, but there is no quiz or matching per se. Expectant parents from across the US can view prospective adoptive parents, and they contact them directly or contact their agency/attorney. For now, you can browse profiles to see what our profile might look like.
Also, if you missed our Facebook post…Jessica’s FBI background check finally came through. It was the last piece of the home study puzzle to come together. We are so glad that we view that whole experience with humor. We could have really let it bum us out, but we joke about it all the time. Our social worker, Alicia, is working on typing up our home study report. We’ll be hopefully getting a copy in the next week or so to proofread. We are almost there!
