Love is in the Air

We’ve been married for over 8 years. People can’t believe we are high school sweethearts and that we started dating over 14 years ago. For our ages (30 and 29), it seems like a really long time, but many of our family members have been married much longer!

In fact, Jessica and her father, David, ventured up to Northern Virginia last weekend to celebrate her great aunt and uncle’s 60th wedding anniversary. 60 years! That’s amazing! But what’s even more amazing is we both have a set of grandparents that are also celebrating 60 years this year. Jessica’s grandparent’s anniversary happened to be yesterday. We hope to have a belated celebration with them for Thanksgiving.

Our parents have also been married quite sometime. Chris’s parents are celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary this month, and Jessica’s parents celebrated 37 years in June. Jessica can recall making anniversary cards at her grandparents house when her parents would have a date night for their anniversary. She could never remember how long they had been married, so she would always congratulate them on being married for some random number of years. Maybe our future child can stay with our parents (Future Grandmas and Grandpas) and make cards when we have a date night!

It’s inspiring to see couples who have been married for such a great length of time. We are so fortunate to have these loved ones in our life to look up to. Happy anniversary to all the love birds! Only 51 1/2 years to go, until we can be celebrating our 60th!
