‘Tis the Season

We blinked and the holiday season was nearly over…it went by so fast! But, we have been staying very busy. Jessica’s cousins from California stayed with us for a few days at the end of their East Coast road trip. It was definitely too short, and we hope that we can see them again soon.

We both grew up having artificial and real trees over the years but had never had a real tree as a couple. So, we decided we would choose and cut our own tree at a Christmas tree farm this year. Jessica made us walk the entire farm for the perfect tree. She was partial to this tree below (as goofy looking as it was).

We left with a different “perfect” tree.

Some fun and artsy photos, of course:

We have been doing a gingerbread competition between the two of us the last couple of years. This year, we decided to collaborate on our tradition to create a…

Nativity Scene!

We celebrated Christmas over a couple days weeks with many of our family members. Several friends visited as well (Shout out to Sharika and Madison!), and two of our cousins stayed over a couple nights. If we weren’t visiting or having visitors, we were filling our time with cleaning, decorating, baking, shopping, or wrapping. We tried to include as much silliness as possible, from goofy gifts to goofy games. The icing on top was going to see a ton of Christmas lights last night.

Jessica’s favorite holiday tradition from childhood is spending all of Christmas day in pajamas. It isn’t one we do every year, but it’s a tradition she definitely wants to bring back when we have a child in the home. Chris’s favorite holiday tradition is visiting with family and all the yummy food.

What holiday traditions do you and your family have?

  1. Love this post and your photos! My favorite holiday tradition is driving South to my Grandma’s house in North Carolina and spending time with family. Oh, can’t forget eating and shopping for sales for the next day!
