Our embryo “adoption” journey is progressing slowly but maybe even faster than I imagined. I really didn’t know how long it would take to be contacted by anyone or how long the process would take once we connected with a couple.
Last year, we started out our local library to investigate their selection of adoption related books. They even hunted down some additional books we could borrow through the interlibrary loan system. They were very gracious, and we appreciate them so much. We learned about the process of adoption mostly through reputable websites and from adoption social workers. Most of the books we’ve read thus far have mostly been repetitive, but there is always something to learn from each resource.
One of the most popular questions we have been asked is about the different types of adoption, specifically international and foster care. We are so glad to hear that so many of our loved ones are aware that there is more than one adoption route and supportive of our choice to adopt.
